Install a plugin in under a minute

Works in the Claude Desktop app (Cowork & Code tabs) and in the Claude Code CLI. The process is identical for every plugin.

Desktop App: Cowork & Code

Open the Cowork or Code tab
Launch the Claude Desktop app and go to either tab. The plugin system works the same in both.

Click Customize in the left sidebar
You'll find it at the bottom-left of the interface.

Click (+) → Upload plugin
In the Personal Plugins section, hit the plus button and choose “Upload plugin”.

Select the zip file
Pick the .zip you downloaded. No need to unzip it first.

Done
Commands appear immediately when you type / in the chat input.

💡

Can't see the upload option?

You may need to install at least one official Anthropic plugin first. Open the plugin catalog, install any plugin from the library, then the option to upload your own will appear.

Claude Code CLI

Single session

Launch Claude Code pointing to the unzipped plugin folder. The plugin is active only for that session.

$claude --plugin-dir ./your-plugin-name

Permanent

Use the Claude Desktop app for a permanent install. Advanced users can also add the plugin directly in ~/.claude/settings.json.
